This course focused on research discusses the sector’s particular situations in the Spanish speaking world, handling various scientific options. For this it analyzes the research trends in Spain and Latin America, the fundamental lines of research and multiple opportunities offered. Moreover, it includes language immersion with the researcher’s hands-on work in a healthcare centre.
CIESE-Comillas believes that mastering Spanish and the cultural aspects of Hispanic society are a growing value in the world of medical research. Some of the main fields of study include pharmacology, biomedicine and biotechnology, since they have given the Spanish speaking world an opportunity for development in recent years, and will be much more relevant in the near future. This module’s emphasis on research discusses the sector’s particular aspects, focusing on the various scientific possibilities; for this we analyze the main trends in research in Spain and Latin America, the fundamental lines of research and the multiple opportunities offered. We have designed a course that combines the specific contents of this field with special attention to terminology and teaching the language used in specific contexts within this sector.
The course is aimed at professionals in the healthcare field and graduate or post-graduate students in these fields or relevant fields. The biomedical cluster team will perform an exhaustive study of the student’s professional needs in order to design an itinerary for professional immersion that suits their profile.
The staff at CIESE-Comillas will also adapt the program’s content to the student’s needs according to their language level.

The assessment will be for training purposes with the aim of controlling each student’s learning development and needs along the process. An initial diagnostic assessment will be taken to evaluate the student’s starting point and needs. Throughout the course the students will use a learning diary which will serve as an assessment and self-assessment tool. The students will perform a self-assessment and collaborative assessment of the oral and written activities.
